| WHEREAS, Boaz on the Square in Graham celebrated the 100th | ||
| anniversary of its opening in November 2021; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Boaz on the Square traces its origins back to 1921, | ||
| when P. A. Boaz, a Lebanese immigrant and entrepreneur, founded the | ||
| Boaz Department Store; over the years, the business grew to include | ||
| seven stores across Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Three of the original stores remained active after | ||
| the Great Depression, and Mr. Boaz's grandson, Davey Donnell, | ||
| eventually took over the business; today, Boaz on the Square sells | ||
| apparel, footwear, and accessories both in store and online; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Local businesses of long standing play a vital role | ||
| in the culture and economy of the Lone Star State, and it is indeed a | ||
| pleasure to honor Boaz on the Square for the contributions it has | ||
| made to the Graham community over the past century; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature | ||
| hereby commemorate the 100th anniversary of Boaz on the Square and | ||
| extend to all those associated with the enterprise sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Boaz on the Square as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas Senate. | ||
