	R E S O L U T I O N
	WHEREAS, Abby Short of Girl Scout Troop No. 1015 has attained
	the Girl Scout Gold Award, and this accomplishment truly merits
	recognition; and
	WHEREAS, To earn this distinction, Ms. Short successfully
	met a series of requirements emphasizing community service,
	personal and spiritual growth, positive values, and leadership
	skills; as part of that process, she planned and implemented a Gold
	Award project to expand and increase the availability of glass
	recycling in Longview; and
	WHEREAS, By fostering self-confidence and by encouraging
	young women to explore career opportunities and to become more
	socially conscious, the Girl Scout program is helping its
	participants to achieve their greatest potential as engaged
	citizens and leaders; and
	WHEREAS, The maturity and dedication that Ms. Short has
	demonstrated in pursuit of her goals truly exemplify the highest
	ideals of the Girl Scouts, and she may indeed reflect with pride on
	a job well done; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 88th Texas Legislature
	hereby congratulate Abby Short on her receipt of the Girl Scout Gold
	Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
	and happiness; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Ms. Short as an expression of high regard by the Texas
	Senate.
