| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Commander Jose C. Rodriguez III, commander of Region 3 | ||
| Weslaco of the Texas Department of Public Safety; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Jose Rodriguez joined the Department of Public | ||
| Safety as a state trooper in Three Rivers in 1988; he worked his | ||
| way through the ranks while serving the citizens of Kingsville, | ||
| El Paso, Corpus Christi, and McAllen; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 2009, the department reorganized its regional | ||
| command structure and established seven regions throughout the | ||
| state; in October of that year, Captain Rodriguez was promoted to | ||
| the newly created regional commander position in McAllen; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Commander Rodriguez currently oversees and | ||
| coordinates all Region 3 Weslaco functions and is dedicated to | ||
| furthering the department's mission of "Protect and Serve | ||
| Texas"; he leads a staff of more than 1,000 employees in a | ||
| jurisdiction that encompasses 27 South Texas counties; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career in law | ||
| enforcement, Commander Rodriguez has manifested uncommon talent | ||
| in managing the far-reaching responsibilities of his positions; | ||
| he is highly respected by his colleagues and area citizens for | ||
| his perseverance and his outstanding leadership; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Commander Jose | ||
| C. Rodriguez III for his exemplary service on behalf of the | ||
| citizens of the Lone Star State and extend to him best wishes in | ||
| all his future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
