SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 38
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Resaca Elementary School of the Brownsville
  Independent School District on the grand occasion of its 80th
  anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, Resaca Elementary School was established in 1931
  and is one of the oldest schools in the district; it was named
  after the bodies of water often associated with the city of
  Brownsville; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Resaca Elementary School is recognized as
  a first-rate institution with a sound academic curriculum and
  well-disciplined, high-achieving students; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to studying the basic curriculum, the
  students compete academically in the University Interscholastic
  League, science fairs, spelling bees, and chess; the school has
  been recognized as an Exemplary School by the Texas Education
  Agency and was named a Texas Monthly Honor School three times in
  the last decade; and
         WHEREAS, Resaca Elementary School has consistently aimed
  at providing resources, programs, and experiences that would
  inspire excellence in student performance, and its students are
  proud of the fine education they receive; and
         WHEREAS, The celebration of Resaca Elementary School's
  80th anniversary is an opportunity for the entire community and
  all who have attended the school to express gratitude for the
  high standards the school upholds and for the excellent
  educational opportunities it provides; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby pay tribute to Resaca Elementary School on
  its success and extend best wishes to all associated with the
  school on the occasion of its 80th anniversary; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the school as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
