SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 355
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Helen Kleberg Groves for her professional success and
  her many contributions to the Lone Star State; and
         WHEREAS, Born in San Antonio, Helen Groves was raised on
  the famed King Ranch in Kingsville; she has devoted her career to
  the ranching and livestock industries and has further dedicated
  herself to working with numerous foundations; and
         WHEREAS, Helen served as the director of King Ranch,
  Incorporated, for more than 30 years, and she currently owns
  several Texas ranches and raises Santa Gertrudis and crossbred
  beef cattle as well as quarter horses and Thoroughbreds; she is
  well known for breeding and racing quarter horses of the King
  Ranch breeding line; and
         WHEREAS, A respected expert in her field, Helen has served
  in leadership roles for several major cutting horse
  associations, and she is the lifetime vice president of the Texas
  and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association; she also currently
  serves as director for the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and Museum, the
  National Sporting Library and Museum, and the Robert J. Kleberg,
  Jr. and Helen C. Kleberg Foundation; and
         WHEREAS, Helen Groves is a steward of a proud legacy in the
  Lone Star State, and she is indeed deserving of recognition for
  her role in helping the cattle and ranching industries continue
  to thrive; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby recognize Helen Kleberg Groves as a
  treasured citizen and commend her for her success in advancing a
  time-honored ranching tradition in Texas; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
