| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Kirk Edwards, who has been named the 2018 Outstanding | ||
| Citizen of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An Odessa native, Kirk Edwards is the president | ||
| and chief executive officer of Latigo Petroleum; he is an | ||
| esteemed resident who is widely admired for his many career | ||
| accomplishments and his lifelong commitment to his hometown | ||
| community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Kirk's history of civic leadership includes his | ||
| former service as a city councilmember, a chairman of the Odessa | ||
| Chamber of Commerce, and a board member of the Midland Odessa | ||
| Transportation Initiative; he also served as the chairman of the | ||
| Chris Kyle Memorial Committee, which oversaw the planning and | ||
| placement of a memorial site honoring the treasured veteran and | ||
| national hero; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Kirk has served in a variety of leadership roles | ||
| for The University of Texas of the Permian Basin, and he has been | ||
| appointed to state advisory roles by former governor Rick Perry | ||
| and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick; he was a speaker of the | ||
| Texas House appointee to the Oilfield Cleanup Fund Advisory | ||
| Committee; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Kirk Edwards is a revered citizen who has earned | ||
| numerous accolades for his professional, civic, and charitable | ||
| service to Odessa and to the State of Texas; he is being honored by | ||
| the Odessa Chamber of Commerce at a luncheon on February 7, 2019; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Kirk Edwards for his advocacy on | ||
| behalf of the Odessa community and the Lone Star State and | ||
| congratulate him on his selection as the 2018 Outstanding Citizen | ||
| of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
