SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 29
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Judy Smith, who is retiring as chair of Precinct 72 in
  Montgomery County after many years of exceptional service to the
  Republican Party of Texas; and
         WHEREAS, Judy became chair of Precinct 72 when it was
  formed in 1998; under her outstanding leadership, the precinct
  has had the highest percentage of voter turnout in the county
  since its creation; and
         WHEREAS, She has served as a Republican precinct chair for
  more than 28 years, including her service for more than a decade
  as chair of Precinct 515 in Harris County; her organizational
  skills, her enthusiasm, and her ability to get out the vote have
  played an important role in the party's success through the
  years; and
         WHEREAS, She has attended every Texas Republican
  convention since moving to the state in 1982 and has served on
  numerous state convention committees, notably the Rules and
  Credentials Committees; she represented Senate District 7 and
  Senate District 3 on the State Republican Executive Committee and
  was elected to serve as a delegate to the 2004, 2008, and 2012
  Republican National Conventions; and
         WHEREAS, Judy Smith is a founding member and past president
  of the North Shore Republican Women; she has held numerous
  offices with the Texas Federation of Republican Women, and the
  organization named her one of the Ten Outstanding Republican
  Women in Texas in 2005; she is truly deserving of recognition for
  her exceptional achievements; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Judy Smith
  on her exemplary contributions to the Republican Party of Texas
  and her outstanding service as chair of Precinct 72 in Montgomery
  County and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all
  her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
