Russell W. Neuhaus | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Dr. Russell W. | ||
Neuhaus, who died May 24, 2013, at the age of 62; and | ||
WHEREAS, Russ Neuhaus was born November 27, 1950, in Omaha, | ||
Nebraska; he developed a strong work ethic at an early age as he | ||
performed chores on his family's farm; he graduated from high | ||
school at the top of his class and attended Northwestern | ||
University, where he graduated with honors and received the | ||
school's top prize in science and mathematics; and | ||
WHEREAS, He went on to earn a degree from Baylor College of | ||
Medicine and to perform his internship and residency in | ||
California; while living in California, he met the love of his | ||
life, Cecilia, and they were married December 15, 1979; the | ||
couple moved to Austin in 1982 and went on to raise two children, | ||
Laura and Eric; and | ||
WHEREAS, In Austin, Dr. Neuhaus established his medical | ||
practice; in addition to his practice, he taught at The | ||
University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and | ||
published and lectured at various medical schools across the | ||
country; he played a role in the United States Food and Drug | ||
Administration's early Botox trials; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dr. Neuhaus served the larger medical community | ||
through his work with the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic | ||
and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Academy of | ||
Ophthalmology, and the Travis County Medical Society; he was a | ||
founder of Texas Oculoplastic Consultants; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
gave unselfishly to others, and his enthusiasm for living each | ||
day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband and father, and he leaves | ||
behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and | ||
countless friends; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Dr. Russell W. Neuhaus; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Dr. Russell W. Neuhaus. | ||
