| WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Lew Simmonds and | ||
| Pat Kowalik made a lifetime commitment to one another, and their | ||
| mutual trust has been amply rewarded, for they are celebrating | ||
| their 50th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2017; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lew and Pat met and fell in love when they were | ||
| students at Southwest Texas State University; they were married | ||
| on August 12, 1967, at the historic Immaculate Conception of the | ||
| Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Panna Maria, Texas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds had long and successful | ||
| careers in the Texas public school system, and over the years, | ||
| they greatly influenced the lives of many young Texans; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The devoted couple has been blessed with a | ||
| wonderful family; their three children and eight grandchildren | ||
| are a source of immense pride and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably in the years of | ||
| their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds continue to cherish the | ||
| traditional values and strong Christian faith that helped | ||
| inspire their bond long ago; the love they share is truly an | ||
| inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Lew and Pat | ||
| Simmonds on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them | ||
| as a memento of this special day. | ||
