| WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their | ||
| memories of Kenneth Ray Ward of Sulphur Springs, who passed away on | ||
| June 29, 2025, at the age of 95; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of J. V. and Gertie Ward, Kenneth Ward was | ||
| born in Goldthwaite on March 18, 1930, and he grew up with the | ||
| companionship of two brothers, G. W. and Wilbur Lee, and three | ||
| sisters, Beatrice, Marcel, and Christine; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Ward graduated from Sulphur Springs High | ||
| School, and he embarked on a long and rewarding career in the auto | ||
| parts industry when he joined the staff of Merrell Chevrolet; he was | ||
| also a valued member of First Baptist Sulphur Springs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ward benefited from the | ||
| love and support of his wife, Marjorie, with whom he shared a | ||
| fulfilling marriage that spanned nearly 75 years until her passing; | ||
| he took great pride in their three daughters, Margaret, Jerry, and | ||
| Jackie, and he had the privilege of seeing his family grow to | ||
| include six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Admired for his strong work ethic, his devotion to | ||
| his loved ones, and his unwavering faith, Kenneth Ward will forever | ||
| hold a special place in the hearts of those who held him dear; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 2nd | ||
| Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Kenneth Ray Ward | ||
| and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his | ||
| children, Margaret Thomas, Jerry Burks Watkins and her husband, | ||
| Charlie, and Jackie O'Quinn and her husband, Danny; to his | ||
| grandchildren, Mindy Thomas Fisher, Heather Thomas, Brandon Burks, | ||
| Bradley Burks, Brian O'Quinn, and Julia O'Quinn; to his | ||
| great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this | ||
| day, it do so in memory of Kenneth Ward. | ||
