| WHEREAS, Residents of Kilgore lost an admired civic leader | ||
| with the passing of Lloyd Blaine Bolding on December 31, 2024, at | ||
| the age of 90; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The son of Bland and Iva Bolding, Lloyd Bolding was | ||
| born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, on August 16, 1934; he attended the | ||
| University of Oklahoma, and after serving his country in the | ||
| U.S. Army, he returned to his studies and completed his bachelor's | ||
| degree in petroleum engineering; he subsequently began his career | ||
| in Kilgore with Dowell Inc. and Pure Oil Company; in 1966, he | ||
| established his own oil-well stimulation business, Acid | ||
| Engineering, Inc., which expanded rapidly across Texas, Louisiana, | ||
| and New Mexico, and he went on to develop a number of related | ||
| companies; he was known in the industry for his kindness and | ||
| mentorship, as well as his work ethic, expertise, and innovative | ||
| spirit; among other accolades, he garnered the Distinguished | ||
| Service Award from the Texas Society of Petroleum Engineers and the | ||
| Pioneer Award from the East Texas Society of Petroleum Engineers; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Bolding gave generously of his time in numerous | ||
| leadership roles; he served as president of the Kilgore Development | ||
| Board, and he was a member of the boards of the Kilgore Independent | ||
| School District, East Texas Baptist University, Allied Citizens | ||
| Bank, and Regions Bank; he further distinguished himself through | ||
| his work on the Gregg County Airport Economic Development Board and | ||
| East Texas Treatment Center Board, and he was active in the Kilgore | ||
| Historical Preservation Foundation, which honored him with its | ||
| Derrick Award; he was also recognized as 2008 Kilgore Man of the | ||
| Year and received the Landmarks of Longview Preservation Award; a | ||
| valued congregant of First Baptist Church Kilgore, he served on the | ||
| financial, personnel, and education building committees; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Devoted to his loved ones, Mr. Bolding shared a | ||
| fulfilling relationship of more than 65 years with his wife, | ||
| Evelyn; he was the proud father of two sons, Bo and Jeff, and he | ||
| found great joy in supporting his children and grandchildren in all | ||
| their activities; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lloyd Bolding led a rich and purposeful life, and | ||
| those he left behind will forever treasure their memories of his | ||
| wisdom, generosity, and tremendous dedication to his family and his | ||
| community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 89th Texas Legislature, 1st | ||
| Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lloyd Blaine | ||
| Bolding and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to | ||
| his wife, Evelyn Bolding; to his sons, Bo Bolding and his wife, | ||
| Beth, and Jeff Bolding and his wife, Tami; to his seven | ||
| grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and to his other | ||
| relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this | ||
| day, it do so in memory of Lloyd Bolding. | ||
