WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
recognize the San Antonio Chapter of Associated General | ||
Contractors of America on the grand occasion of the chapter's | ||
100th anniversary, which will be celebrated on November 16, 2023; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, The largest and oldest construction trade | ||
association in the United States, Associated General Contractors | ||
of America was established in 1918 to protect the interests of | ||
the hard-working men and women in the building construction | ||
industry; today, it includes more than 33,000 firms across the | ||
nation; and | ||
WHEREAS, Founded in 1923, the San Antonio Chapter of the | ||
association is one of the 12 building chapters in the state under | ||
the auspices of the Texas Building Branch, which facilitates | ||
relations between the chapters and state government entities and | ||
organizes friendly award competitions for association members; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, The San Antonio Chapter serves 270 member firms | ||
in 19 counties throughout South Texas and has made significant | ||
contributions to communities in the region through the | ||
construction of parks, hotels, stores, offices, schools, | ||
churches, hospitals, and military facilities and through its | ||
support of children's organizations, nonprofits, and local bond | ||
campaigns aimed at improving city life and public education; and | ||
WHEREAS, In its mission to continuously advance commercial | ||
construction through education, networking, and advocacy, the | ||
chapter empowers its members to meet the needs of their | ||
communities and to foster collaboration among industry leaders, | ||
professionals, and businesses that allows communities to grow, | ||
thrive, and shape their futures; and | ||
WHEREAS, The San Antonio Chapter has been recognized by | ||
its parent organization and by the Texas Society of Association | ||
Executives for its outstanding community service work and for its | ||
dedication to preserving natural sites and city parks; the | ||
chapter has for 100 years contributed to creating a more | ||
beautiful and prosperous San Antonio community, and this | ||
outstanding organization is truly deserving of special | ||
recognition for its many contributions to communities throughout | ||
South Texas and to the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby commend the San Antonio | ||
Chapter of Associated General Contractors of America on its 100th | ||
anniversary and extend to its members best wishes for a memorable | ||
centennial celebration and for continued success in the future; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
the chapter as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
