WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
recognize Ben A. Brooks III, who is retiring after many years of | ||
dedicated service to the City of Dallas; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ben Brooks III is an accomplished and respected | ||
lawyer who has served as bond counsel and disclosure counsel for | ||
cities, counties, school districts, special law districts, and | ||
other political subdivisions throughout Texas; and | ||
WHEREAS, During his career, Ben has helped secure the | ||
financing and development of airports, sports facilities, | ||
housing, industrial development, health care, and public power | ||
and regional water; he took great care in drafting legislation | ||
that authorized public entities to finance their infrastructure | ||
and economic development programs; and | ||
WHEREAS, Noted for his wisdom and integrity, Ben served as | ||
bond counsel for several multimillion-dollar infrastructure | ||
projects for the City of Dallas, including for the Dallas Area | ||
Rapid Transit Authority and the Dallas Independent School | ||
District, and he was the disclosure counsel on the billion-dollar | ||
development of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the years, Ben has upheld the highest | ||
standards of his profession and has continuously been ranked by | ||
ratings organizations as among the best lawyers in public finance | ||
law and securities regulation; a fellow of the American College | ||
of Bond Counsel, Ben earned his bachelor's degree from The | ||
University of Texas at Austin and his law degree from Southern | ||
Methodist University Dedman School of Law; and | ||
WHEREAS, Throughout his career, Ben has labored to build a | ||
more prosperous Dallas, and his diligence and discernment have | ||
improved the quality of life for his fellow citizens; as his | ||
colleagues and friends gather to celebrate his achievements on | ||
November 13, 2023, it is indeed fitting that this treasured Texan | ||
receive special recognition for his extraordinary contributions | ||
to his beloved city; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Ben A. Brooks III | ||
on his distinguished career and service to the City of Dallas and | ||
extend to him best wishes on an enjoyable retirement and in all | ||
his future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
