Adrian DeJuan Smith | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Adrian DeJuan Smith, who died on | ||
November 1, 2023, at the age of 52; and | ||
WHEREAS, Adrian Smith was born on January 3, 1971, to | ||
Reverend A. D. Smith and Janice Smith; he graduated from | ||
Lancaster Elsie Robertson High School and went on to graduate | ||
from Dallas Baptist University and earn a degree in electronics | ||
technology from NEC Technical Institute in Dallas; and | ||
WHEREAS, Endowed with a patriotic spirit, Adrian enlisted | ||
in the United States Army and served with distinction for eight | ||
years, when he was voluntarily discharged; a decorated soldier, | ||
Adrian earned a number of accolades for his courageous service, | ||
including the Army Achievement Medal and the 59th Ordnance | ||
Brigade Operation Golden Python Award; and | ||
WHEREAS, An experienced and dedicated leader and technical | ||
expert, Adrian was employed for over two decades at West Telecom | ||
Services, working as a consultant, trainer, senior engineer, | ||
technical analyst, and in numerous other critical roles; he was a | ||
widely respected and beloved mentor and teacher who enriched the | ||
knowledge of younger professionals in his field and was a source | ||
of inspiration to his colleagues and associates; and | ||
WHEREAS, Above all of his professional pursuits, Adrian | ||
was a devoted father to his son, Khalil Ahmad Smith, whom he | ||
raised by loving example, and he experienced the blessing of | ||
having a second mother in the person of Evelyn Gilmore-Smith, who | ||
was part of his life for 43 years; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, Adrian was | ||
a charter member of Ebenezer Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, | ||
where he served faithfully as a deacon, choir member, Sunday | ||
school teacher, and instructor in the men's ministry; and | ||
WHEREAS, Adrian was a beacon of light in the lives of his | ||
family and friends, and the memory of his generous spirit will | ||
long outlive him; he leaves behind precious memories that will be | ||
forever treasured by his loved ones and by all who were | ||
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, 4th Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Adrian DeJuan Smith; and, | ||
be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
them as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate | ||
and that when the Senate adjourns on this day, it do so in memory | ||
of Adrian DeJuan Smith. | ||
