| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the American Jewish Committee in honoring Bob Borochoff for | ||
| his leadership in the food and beverage industry and in the | ||
| community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Bob Borochoff has owned nearly two dozen | ||
| successful restaurants, special events companies, and catering | ||
| ventures; he has been active in professional organizations and | ||
| served on the board of the Texas Restaurant Association for 19 | ||
| years; he was also active on the national level and currently | ||
| serves as Director Emeritus of the National Restaurant | ||
| Association; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He served as president of the Greater Houston | ||
| Restaurant Association for two terms and as chairman of the | ||
| association's Governmental Affairs Committee for 23 years; he | ||
| was named "Restaurateur of the Year" by the association in 1987; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Bob Borochoff has made his mark in the restaurant | ||
| business by focusing on good management and business practices; | ||
| he volunteers his time and talents with numerous civic and | ||
| charitable organizations, and he has advocated passionately on | ||
| behalf of programs for individuals with mental illnesses and | ||
| disabilities and efforts to encourage immigration reform; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, The Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Bob | ||
| Borochoff on his many achievements and his service to the | ||
| community and extend to him congratulations on being honored at | ||
| the American Jewish Committee Houston Human Relations Award | ||
| dinner; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
