Oscar Raul Cárdenas | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of McAllen in mourning the loss of Oscar Raul Cárdenas, | ||
who died May 13, 2011, at the age of 50; and | ||
WHEREAS, Oscar Raul Cárdenas was an exemplary citizen | ||
whose determination, spirit, and many accomplishments in the | ||
face of adversity served as an inspiration to all those who knew | ||
him; and | ||
WHEREAS, Born July 3, 1960, in McAllen, Mr. Cárdenas earned | ||
a bachelor of business administration degree from Texas A&M | ||
University; he worked a short time for an accounting firm before | ||
becoming an entrepreneur, creating a series of businesses and | ||
achieving great success with Medical Accounts Receivable | ||
Services and the Copy It Printing Center; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Cárdenas played a vital role in his community, | ||
leading a wide variety of organizations as president, including | ||
the Muscular Dystrophy Association of the Rio Grande Valley, | ||
McAllen Easter Seals, and the Better Business Bureau; he was | ||
named the 2004 McAllen Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year and the | ||
2008 Easter Seals Humanitarian of the Year; and | ||
WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compelling | ||
enthusiasm, Mr. Cárdenas possessed the rare ability to have | ||
people remember his vitality rather than his infirmity, and | ||
although he will be deeply missed by his family and countless | ||
friends, he will continue to live in their hearts and minds | ||
forever; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Oscar Raul Cárdenas; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Oscar Raul Cárdenas. | ||
