SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 10
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
  tribute to Juan Barrientes, Sr., on the grand occasion of his
  80th birthday, on June 12, 2011; and
 
         WHEREAS, A well-known and revered citizen of Brownsville,
  Juan Barrientes was born and raised in the city; he was married to
  the late Felicitas Garza Barrientes for 43 years, and they raised
  10 children, five sons and five daughters; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Barrientes lived in Los Fresnos and worked on
  nearby farms in the 1950s and 1960s; he then began working for the
  public utilities board of Brownsville, where he enjoyed a 36-year
  career and made many friends; and
 
         WHEREAS, Mr. Barrientes is a beloved and respected member
  of his community and is well known for his wise counsel, his
  engaging demeanor, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the
  fullest; he takes great pleasure in spending time with his family
  and friends and enjoys going fishing and bowling; and
 
         WHEREAS, His family and many friends are joining him on
  June 12, 2011, to share in the celebration of this milestone in
  his life; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Juan
  Barrientes, Sr., as a treasured citizen of this state and extend
  to him best wishes for a memorable 80th birthday celebration;
  and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate.
