| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay | ||
| tribute to Juan Barrientes, Sr., on the grand occasion of his | ||
| 80th birthday, on June 12, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A well-known and revered citizen of Brownsville, | ||
| Juan Barrientes was born and raised in the city; he was married to | ||
| the late Felicitas Garza Barrientes for 43 years, and they raised | ||
| 10 children, five sons and five daughters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Barrientes lived in Los Fresnos and worked on | ||
| nearby farms in the 1950s and 1960s; he then began working for the | ||
| public utilities board of Brownsville, where he enjoyed a 36-year | ||
| career and made many friends; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Barrientes is a beloved and respected member | ||
| of his community and is well known for his wise counsel, his | ||
| engaging demeanor, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the | ||
| fullest; he takes great pleasure in spending time with his family | ||
| and friends and enjoys going fishing and bowling; and | ||
| WHEREAS, His family and many friends are joining him on | ||
| June 12, 2011, to share in the celebration of this milestone in | ||
| his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby recognize Juan | ||
| Barrientes, Sr., as a treasured citizen of this state and extend | ||
| to him best wishes for a memorable 80th birthday celebration; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as a token of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
