| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is | ||
| amended by adding Section 51.981 to read as follows: | ||
| Sec. 51.981. CERTAIN STANDARDIZATION IN CYBERSECURITY | ||
| DEGREE PROGRAMS. (a) In this section, "institution of higher | ||
| education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003. | ||
| (b) An institution of higher education that offers a degree | ||
| program in cybersecurity shall ensure that the degree program is | ||
| aligned with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education | ||
| Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity. | ||
| SECTION 2. Section 51.981, Education Code, as added by this | ||
| Act, applies beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year. | ||
| SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | ||
