| relating to the removal from office of a county auditor. | ||
| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
| SECTION 1. Section 84.009(a), Local Government Code, is | ||
| amended to read as follows: | ||
| (a) A county auditor may be removed from office and a | ||
| successor appointed if, after due investigation by the district | ||
| judges who appointed the auditor or by the office of the attorney | ||
| general, it is proven that the auditor: | ||
| (1) has committed official misconduct; or | ||
| (2) is incompetent to faithfully discharge the duties | ||
| of the office of county auditor. | ||
| SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2017. | ||
