A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the removal from office of a county auditor.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 84.009(a), Local Government Code, is
  amended to read as follows:
         (a)  A county auditor may be removed from office and a
  successor appointed if, after due investigation by the district
  judges who appointed the auditor or by the office of the attorney
  general, it is proven that the auditor:
               (1)  has committed official misconduct; or
               (2)  is incompetent to faithfully discharge the duties
  of the office of county auditor.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2017.
