WHEREAS, Captain Reginald Dewayne Williams of Dallas | ||
Fire-Rescue passed away on April 5, 2021, at the age of 55, bringing | ||
a profound loss to his family, his colleagues, and his community; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Henry Williams and Reba Pikes, Reginald | ||
Williams was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on June 14, 1965; he | ||
graduated from Green Oaks High School and went on to earn a | ||
bachelor's degree in computer science from Grambling State | ||
University in 1987; while in college, he joined Alpha Phi Alpha | ||
Fraternity, and he remained active in the organization until the | ||
time of his passing; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Williams began his career with Dallas | ||
Fire-Rescue in 1992, and over the course of his nearly three decades | ||
with the department, he rose to the rank of captain; in recognition | ||
of his exceptional dedication and courage, he was honored with the | ||
Medal of Valor from the Dallas Black Fire Fighters Association in | ||
2000; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Captain Williams enjoyed the | ||
love and support of his wife, Canefa, with whom he shared a | ||
rewarding union that spanned 29 years, and he took great pride in | ||
his two daughters, April and Amber; moreover, he was a valued | ||
congregant of Friendship-West Baptist Church; and | ||
WHEREAS, Reginald Williams was a devoted family man and a | ||
significant asset to his community, and his commitment to his loved | ||
ones and to the citizens of Dallas will be remembered and admired | ||
for years to come; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Captain Reginald | ||
Dewayne Williams and extend sincere condolences to his relatives | ||
and many friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Captain | ||
Reginald Williams. | ||
