| WHEREAS, Cheryl Fillmore of the West Oso Independent School | ||
| District has been selected as an honoree for the 2023 Women in | ||
| Education Awards by the Education Service Center Region 2, and she | ||
| will be recognized at a banquet on March 29, 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Fillmore embarked on her educational career | ||
| with West Oso ISD in 1992, and prior to assuming her current | ||
| position as athletic director in 2017, she served as a physical | ||
| education coach, an AVID teacher, and a counselor; over the course | ||
| of her exemplary tenure, she has worked tirelessly to elevate the | ||
| district's athletic programs, and she has also encouraged countless | ||
| students to strive for athletic excellence while supporting them in | ||
| the pursuit of their future educational and career goals; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A graduate of West Oso High School, Ms. Fillmore | ||
| attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she played | ||
| basketball; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Cheryl Fillmore has set an outstanding example of | ||
| leadership and dedication to which others may aspire, and she is | ||
| indeed deserving of this noteworthy honor; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Cheryl Fillmore on her receipt of a | ||
| 2023 Women in Education Award from the Education Service Center | ||
| Region 2 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success | ||
| in her important work; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Fillmore as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
