WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Chief Marvin Wayne Trejo of the Dumas Police Department | ||
on May 10, 2020, at the age of 58; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of George and Patricia Trejo, Marvin Trejo | ||
was born on September 17, 1961, in Falfurrias, and he grew up in | ||
Morton with the companionship of five siblings, Delilah, Patsy, | ||
George, Brenda, and Marleen; he graduated from Morton High School | ||
and went on to join the U.S. Marine Corps as an infantryman; later, | ||
he attended the police academy at South Plains College; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Trejo began his career in law enforcement at the | ||
Littlefield Police Department, and after five years, he joined the | ||
Dumas Police Department; during his distinguished tenure of 25 | ||
years, he rose steadily through the ranks and became the chief of | ||
police in 2019; in his leisure time, he enjoyed grilling and riding | ||
in his side-by-side vehicle; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Trejo benefited from the | ||
love and support of his wife, Lisa, with whom he shared a rewarding | ||
marriage that spanned more than two decades; he took great pride in | ||
his four children, Renee, David, Katera, and Kailey, and he valued | ||
time spent with his treasured grandchildren; a man of deep faith, he | ||
was a valued member of the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, A devoted family man and a respected peace officer, | ||
Marvin Trejo leaves behind a record of service that will forever | ||
inspire all those who had the good fortune to know him; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Marvin Wayne Trejo and | ||
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, | ||
Lisa; to his children, Renee Trejo, David Trejo and his girlfriend, | ||
Delesa Perez, Katera Padilla and her fiancé, Drew Velasquez, and | ||
Kailey Trejo and her fiancé, Michael Ledbetter; to his siblings, | ||
Patsy Vasquez and her husband, Higinio, George Trejo and his wife, | ||
Juliana, Brenda Carrillo and her husband, Anastacio, and Marleen | ||
Carrillo and her husband, Benito; and to his many other relatives | ||
and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marvin | ||
Trejo. |
