R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Jovita Rebecca Guevara of Benavides has
  distinguished herself as a member of the local business community,
  and her dedication and generosity of spirit have earned her the
  heartfelt admiration of many people; and
         WHEREAS, The proprietor of Jovita's Beauty Salon, Mrs.
  Guevara opened her shop in the late 1950s, and at 83, she continues
  to run it in order to serve her faithful customers; she even makes
  occasional house calls to attend to clients in ill health; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Stockdale on November 28, 1927, Mrs. Guevara
  is the daughter of Jilma and Alvaro Guevara; she attended school in
  Benavides and participated in sports and played string bass in the
  band; after graduating, she lived with her aunt in San Antonio and
  walked a half-mile to the bus stop every day in order to attend
  Johnson's Beauty Academy downtown; she returned to Benavides to
  begin her career in cosmetology and married her high school
  sweetheart, Eloy Carrillo, in 1947; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Guevara opened her first shop above a drug
  store and worked there for eight years while raising her first two
  children, Carlos Ruben and Filiberto Xavier; later, she and her
  husband built a home with the assistance of her father, a carpenter
  by trade, and they added space to house Jovita's Beauty Salon; her
  family grew to include three more children, Lili Yvonne, Eloy
  Adrian, and Rhonda Rebecca, and while she styled hair, her
  customers enjoyed rocking the little ones or entertaining them in
  their playpens; during that period, she renovated and expanded the
  salon; Mrs. Guevara today enjoys the support and encouragement of
  10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, For more than six decades, Jovita's Beauty Salon has
  been a fixture in the community, and through her talent,
  entrepreneurship, and caring commitment to her customers, Jovita
  Guevara has earned the admiration of all who are privileged to know
  her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize Jovita Rebecca Guevara for her
  accomplishments and contributions and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Guevara as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
