| WHEREAS, Members of Texas Tea Party Republican Women are | ||
| celebrating the organization's 30th anniversary on March 30, 2023; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in 1993 by Peggy Cox, Susan Darbyshire, | ||
| and Elvie Kingston, TTPRW is an active, conservative women's | ||
| organization working to preserve and promote the traditional | ||
| principles of the Republican Party; the three founders named the | ||
| group in tribute to the women patriots of the American Revolution | ||
| who boycotted English tea and worked alongside their husbands to | ||
| help form a new nation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Participants in Texas Tea Party Republican Women | ||
| give generously of their time, talents, and financial resources to | ||
| promote an informed electorate and to foster civic engagement and | ||
| political participation; in addition, TTPRW helps fund Republican | ||
| campaigns at the state and local levels; over the years, the group's | ||
| members have participated in many phone banks, surveys, and voter | ||
| registration efforts, and they have supported a number of worthy | ||
| nonprofit organizations; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Within a year of its affiliation with the Texas | ||
| Federation of Republican Women in 1996, TTPRW received the | ||
| federation's First Place Certificate of Recognition for nearly | ||
| 18,000 campaign hours worked, and the group has received numerous | ||
| other honors from the TFRW, including the Elephant Stampede Award | ||
| for growth in 2006; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through their grassroots activism, members of Texas | ||
| Tea Party Republican Women have made a lasting difference in their | ||
| community, state, and nation, and they may take justifiable pride | ||
| in their rich history of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Texas Tea Party Republican Women on | ||
| the occasion of its 30th anniversary and extend to the group sincere | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
