WHEREAS, Dr. Glenn Blodgett of Guthrie has been selected for | ||
induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame as a member | ||
of the Class of 2021; and | ||
WHEREAS, The American Quarter Horse Association strives to | ||
support and protect the American Quarter Horse breed, and each | ||
year, the association recognizes individuals who have contributed | ||
to the advancement of the American Quarter Horse industry; and | ||
WHEREAS, A graduate of Oklahoma State University, | ||
Dr. Blodgett earned a degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M | ||
University in 1974; he subsequently worked at Spur Veterinary | ||
Hospital for two years before opening Hansford County Veterinary | ||
Hospital in Spearman; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 1982, Dr. Blodgett joined Burnett Ranches as | ||
resident veterinarian and manager of the horse division, and he has | ||
since overseen the equine breeding and production facility at the | ||
famed Four Sixes Ranch; under his leadership, the ranch has been | ||
recognized for its racing and western performance American Quarter | ||
Horses; in addition, Dr. Blodgett is an adjunct graduate faculty | ||
member at Texas A&M, and he mentors veterinary students at Four | ||
Sixes Ranch; and | ||
WHEREAS, Dr. Blodgett has benefited AQHA since 1991, when he | ||
began serving as a director; from 1995 to 2009, he was chair of the | ||
Stud Book and Registration Committee and a member of the AQHA Hall | ||
of Fame Selection Committee, and in 2011, he was elevated to | ||
director-at-large; the following year, he was elected to the | ||
executive committee, and he served as the executive president in | ||
2015; currently, he is a member of the AQHA Animal Welfare | ||
Commission; and | ||
WHEREAS, In addition to his work with AQHA, Dr. Blodgett has | ||
been involved with the American Association of Equine Practitioners | ||
and the Texas Racing Commission; he has earned a number of awards | ||
along the way, including induction into the Texas Horse Racing Hall | ||
of Fame and the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and | ||
WHEREAS, A longtime leader in his field, Glenn Blodgett has | ||
distinguished himself in the Lone Star State and beyond through his | ||
vision, expertise, and commitment to excellence, and he is indeed | ||
deserving of this prestigious honor; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Glenn | ||
Blodgett on his induction into the American Quarter Horse Hall of | ||
Fame and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Dr. Blodgett as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. |
