R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Ken Clark retired as planning and development
  director for the City of Harlingen on January 30, 2015, drawing to a
  close a distinguished career in municipal government; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Corpus Christi, Mr. Clark earned a
  bachelor's degree from Auburn University before receiving his
  master's degree in urban planning from California State Polytechnic
  University in Pomona in 1974; he was employed as a city planner for
  several cities in California over the ensuing 20 years, and in 2007
  he moved to Somerton, Arizona, to serve as the city's community
  development director; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed professional returned to the Lone Star
  State in 2009, taking over as planning and development director for
  the City of Kingsville; there, he collaborated with the
  U.S. Department of Defense in a joint land use study that helped to
  ensure the continued operation of Naval Air Station Kingsville; for
  the past four years, he has fully committed himself to the
  betterment of the City of Harlingen, and in so doing, he has won the
  admiration and respect of his colleagues and area residents alike;
  and
         WHEREAS, In retirement, Mr. Clark hopes to travel to
  Australia and New Zealand and to spend more time with his two
  children and other loved ones; and
         WHEREAS, Ken Clark consistently set high standards for public
  service in Harlingen, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his
  myriad accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 84th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ken Clark on his retirement as
  planning and development director for the City of Harlingen and
  extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Clark as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
