| WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
| passing of Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. of Corpus Christi on July 6, | ||
| 2023, at the age of 73; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Affectionately known as "Gambi," Ramiro Gamboa was | ||
| born in Laredo on July 20, 1949, to Dolores and Antonietta Gamboa, | ||
| and he grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Javier, | ||
| Gerardo, Juanita, and Antonia; he graduated from Martin High School | ||
| in 1968 and subsequently began studies at Mercy Hospital to become | ||
| an X-ray technician, earning his credentials in 1969; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed a lengthy career as a surgical | ||
| radiology technician at CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus | ||
| Christi-Shoreline that spanned nearly five decades; a highly | ||
| regarded and passionate champion for civil rights and the education | ||
| of the Latino community, he gave generously of his time and talents | ||
| to the League of United Latin American Citizens Council No. 1; he | ||
| first became involved with the organization in the 1970s, and over | ||
| the years, he worked tirelessly to defend the rights of Hispanic | ||
| Americans, joining forces with a number of city, state, and | ||
| national elected officials and community leaders in order to create | ||
| social and economic change; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Gamboa enjoyed the love | ||
| and support of his wife of 54 years, Guadalupe; he was the devoted | ||
| father of four children, Ramiro, Jessica, Gabriel, and Christopher, | ||
| and with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family | ||
| grow to include nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; | ||
| his life was further enriched by his beloved dog, Miguel; and | ||
| WHEREAS, While the death of Ramiro Gamboa brings immeasurable | ||
| sorrow to his family and friends, he leaves behind a legacy that | ||
| will long be treasured by all those who held him dear; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
| Ramiro Humberto Gamboa Sr. and extend sincere condolences to his | ||
| loved ones; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro | ||
| Gamboa. | ||
