| WHEREAS, Lieutenant Johnny Spillman is retiring from the | ||
| McLennan County Sheriff's Office on April 30, 2017, drawing to a | ||
| close a notable career as a peace officer that has spanned three | ||
| decades; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lieutenant Spillman is a graduate of the McLennan | ||
| Community College Law Enforcement Academy; he began his career with | ||
| the McLennan County jail in 1986, and for the past five years he has | ||
| served as an administrator in the criminal investigation division, | ||
| where he oversees 10 investigators, 5 mental health deputies, and a | ||
| number of civilian employees; over the past several years he has | ||
| helped lead the division to an arrest in every homicide case in the | ||
| county's jurisdiction; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This courageous officer has been honored with the | ||
| Star of Texas Award, which was presented to him by Governor Rick | ||
| Perry in recognition of a serious injury he sustained in 2013 while | ||
| engaged in the investigation of a reported kidnapping; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lieutenant Spillman has exemplified the highest | ||
| ideals of his profession throughout his career, and his unwavering | ||
| dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens has | ||
| earned him the lasting respect and admiration of all who know him; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate Lieutenant Johnny Spillman on the | ||
| occasion of his retirement from the McLennan County Sheriff's | ||
| Office and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Lieutenant Spillman as an expression of high regard by | ||
| the Texas House of Representatives. | ||
