R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Johnny Spillman is retiring from the |
|
McLennan County Sheriff's Office on April 30, 2017, drawing to a |
|
close a notable career as a peace officer that has spanned three |
|
decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Spillman is a graduate of the McLennan |
|
Community College Law Enforcement Academy; he began his career with |
|
the McLennan County jail in 1986, and for the past five years he has |
|
served as an administrator in the criminal investigation division, |
|
where he oversees 10 investigators, 5 mental health deputies, and a |
|
number of civilian employees; over the past several years he has |
|
helped lead the division to an arrest in every homicide case in the |
|
county's jurisdiction; and |
|
WHEREAS, This courageous officer has been honored with the |
|
Star of Texas Award, which was presented to him by Governor Rick |
|
Perry in recognition of a serious injury he sustained in 2013 while |
|
engaged in the investigation of a reported kidnapping; and |
|
WHEREAS, Lieutenant Spillman has exemplified the highest |
|
ideals of his profession throughout his career, and his unwavering |
|
dedication to the safety and well-being of his fellow citizens has |
|
earned him the lasting respect and admiration of all who know him; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Lieutenant Johnny Spillman on the |
|
occasion of his retirement from the McLennan County Sheriff's |
|
Office and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness and fulfillment; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Lieutenant Spillman as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
