WHEREAS, Dale Priour, a renowned figure in the Central Texas | ||
wool and mohair industry, passed away on June 30, 2013, at the age | ||
of 91, drawing to a close a life filled with meaningful | ||
achievements; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of Kerr County, Mr. Priour attended The | ||
University of Texas before valiantly serving his country as a pilot | ||
in the Pacific theater during World War II; following his return to | ||
civilian life, he joined the family business, a wool and mohair | ||
warehouse in Ingram; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Priour's dedicated work over the ensuing decades | ||
helped the company to expand to include locations throughout the | ||
region; moreover, his campaign among ranchers to improve the | ||
quality of their product enabled the Lone Star State to become the | ||
number one supplier of high-grade mohair in the world; and | ||
WHEREAS, An involved member of his community, Mr. Priour was | ||
a Master Mason of the 32nd Degree for more than 65 years; in his free | ||
time, he was an avid beekeeper and enjoyed boating, waterskiing, | ||
and other outdoor activities; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Priour cherished his faith and his family; he | ||
and his wife, Edna "Beebsie" Priour, shared a rewarding marriage | ||
before she passed away, and he took great pride in his children, | ||
Gary, Lary, Dalene, and Nancy, and his 16 grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, Though it is impossible to gauge the full effect of a | ||
man's life, some individuals leave their unmistakable mark on the | ||
world as they move through it, and Dale Priour's contributions will | ||
long resonate in the lives of all who knew him; now, therefore, be | ||
it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
Dale Priour and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his | ||
family: to his children, Gary Priour and his wife, Carol, Lary | ||
Priour and his wife, Georgia, Dalene Priour Taylor and her husband, | ||
Marc, and Nancy Priour Hopkins and her husband, Wesley; to his | ||
grandchildren, Michael Priour, Candice Welhausen, Charles | ||
Welhausen, Jennifer Phelps, Marc Taylor, Jr., Travis Priour, Luke | ||
Priour, David Priour, Emily Phelps, Jonah Priour, Katherine Phelps, | ||
Megan Taylor, Jacob Phelps, Camille Priour, Kayleb Priour, and | ||
William Hopkins; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Dale | ||
Priour. |
