| WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their | ||
| memories of Sergeant William Karl Keesee of the Texas Department of | ||
| Public Safety, who died in the line of duty on October 29, 2015, at | ||
| the age of 49; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born on April 29, 1966, in Brownwood to Johnny and | ||
| Merle Keesee, Karl Keesee was a graduate of Brownwood High School; | ||
| he married the former Darla Boyd on June 8, 1985, and the couple | ||
| were blessed with two children, Karesa and Karlton; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Keesee dedicated 25 years of service to the | ||
| Department of Public Safety; he was a certified crash | ||
| reconstructionist, recognized by the judicial system as an expert | ||
| witness on crash reconstruction, and he also worked as a crash | ||
| school instructor and a field training officer; over the years, he | ||
| was the recipient of numerous honors from the department, including | ||
| a Texas Highway Patrol Division Chief award for his response to a | ||
| life-threatening situation, and he was posthumously recognized by | ||
| Governor Greg Abbott with a 2016 Star of Texas award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Keesee was a lifelong resident of Brownwood | ||
| and a valued congregant of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ; a | ||
| humble man admired for his wisdom and humor, he went out of his way | ||
| to help those in need, and he touched the lives of many people | ||
| through his work in law enforcement; in his leisure hours, he | ||
| enjoyed hunting, fishing, fixing things around the house, and | ||
| spending time with his family, whom he cherished above all else; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Karl Keesee lived an honorable life of service to | ||
| his fellow Texans, and he will always be remembered with deep | ||
| affection by those who held him close to their hearts; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Sergeant William | ||
| Karl Keesee and extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his | ||
| passing; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
| Representatives adjourns on this day, it do so in memory of Karl | ||
| Keesee. | ||
