WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Helen | ||
Butts Tipps, who passed away on June 4, 2013, at the age of 82; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of San Augustine, Helen Butts was born to | ||
Bryan and Leola Butts on January 9, 1931; she attended The Hockaday | ||
School in Dallas and went on to earn a degree in Texas history from | ||
Southern Methodist University, where she was a member of Kappa | ||
Alpha Theta; she lived in Houston for many years before moving to | ||
Austin in 2000 to be close to family; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tipps took great pride in her three children, | ||
Helen, Clark, and Mary, her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Will, | ||
and Maggie, and her three great-granddaughters, Elise, Katherine, | ||
and Anna; she was also devoted to her dog, Ginger; in addition, | ||
Mrs. Tipps was a lifelong member of the Junior League, the | ||
Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the | ||
Republic of Texas; and | ||
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Helen Butts | ||
Tipps will remember how she touched their lives with her kind and | ||
caring ways, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their | ||
hearts; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of | ||
Helen Butts Tipps and extend sincere condolences to the members of | ||
her family: to her children, Helen Tipps Watkins and her husband, | ||
Sandy, Clark Tipps, and Mary Tipps; to her grandchildren, Elizabeth | ||
Watkins Garrett and her husband, Jacob, Will Watkins, and Maggie | ||
Watkins; to her great-grandchildren, Elise, Katherine, and Anna | ||
Garrett; to her sister, Sue Butts McEachern, and her husband, Ray | ||
Neal; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Helen Butts | ||
Tipps. |
