WHEREAS, Miguel Padilla of Fort Worth has earned great | ||
distinction for himself, his school, and his community by receiving | ||
a perfect score on the Advanced Placement Computer Science A Exam in | ||
2016; and | ||
WHEREAS, Administered by the College Board, AP tests allow | ||
high school students to earn college credit by reaching a threshold | ||
score on the test; out of the more than 58,000 students worldwide | ||
who took the AP Computer Science A Exam in 2016, only 10 students | ||
got perfect marks; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Michael and Maria Padilla, | ||
Miguel Padilla is a senior at Harmony School of Innovation, which he | ||
has attended since fourth grade; he hopes to attend the | ||
Massachusetts Institute of Technology and pursue a career | ||
researching artificial intelligence and machine learning; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Padilla credits his computer science teacher, | ||
Angelica Garcia, for setting the high academic standards that have | ||
helped him to excel; after he received his perfect score, he | ||
presented Ms. Garcia with a signed copy with the inscription, "I | ||
couldn't let you down, not even one point"; and | ||
WHEREAS, This significant achievement has earned Miguel | ||
Padilla the respect and admiration of his teachers and classmates, | ||
and his exceptional scholastic ability and commitment to excellence | ||
are opening the way to a bright and promising future for this | ||
outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby commend Miguel Padilla for earning a perfect | ||
score on the Advanced Placement Computer Science A Exam and extend | ||
to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Padilla as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
