R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Ken Bailey of Kountze has been recognized as a
  Certified Forest Steward by the Texas A&M Forest Service and the
  USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service; and
         WHEREAS, A partnership between the forest service and
  conservation service, the Texas Forest Stewardship Program
  recognizes landowners who implement a written stewardship plan on
  at least 10 acres; A&M Forest Service members help develop the plan
  with site-specific recommendations based on individual goals, and
  they outline step-by-step measures to sustain the land well into
  the future; and
         WHEREAS, Ken Bailey transformed more than 200 acres of bare
  land into a thriving site with a growing forest and habitat for fish
  and wildlife; the owner of Lifecheck Drug pharmacy, he had no
  previous forestry experience, but with the assistance of agency
  personnel, he has created a garden and an orchard, as well as ponds;
  he has also installed brush piles for rabbits, bee hives, bat
  houses, and more than 50 bluebird houses; the wonderful array of
  wildflowers on the property includes bluebonnets, honeysuckle,
  morning glories, and sunflowers; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication to promoting forestation and
  protecting local flora and fauna, Ken Bailey has made his corner of
  the state more beautiful, productive, and vibrant, and he is indeed
  deserving of this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Ken Bailey on
  his recognition as a Certified Forest Steward by the Texas A&M
  Forest Service and the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service
  and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his
  worthwhile endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Bailey as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
