R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Members of the Real Estate Councils of Texas are
  gathering in Austin on February 22, 2011, to celebrate Commercial
  Real Estate Development Day at the State Capitol; and
         WHEREAS, A statewide coalition of real estate professionals,
  RECsTX was founded in September 2008 to educate the public on issues
  affecting the real estate industry and to advocate on the
  industry's behalf; founding members include the Real Estate
  Councils of San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Greater Fort Worth, and
  Houston, as well as Houstonians for Responsible Growth; and
         WHEREAS, The mission of RECsTX is to serve as the unified
  voice of the real estate development industry in Texas and to
  enhance the role of real estate within the state's economy; members
  of the organization also hope to raise public awareness about the
  significant economic impact of the real estate industry on Texas;
  in 2007, the industry provided approximately $3.8 billion in state
  tax revenue and generated more than $270 billion in total economic
  activity; furthermore, it contributed $76.8 billion in labor income
  and produced 1.75 million jobs; and
         WHEREAS, The well-being of Texas residents depends on
  economic prosperity throughout the state, and professional
  organizations like the Real Estate Councils of Texas are working to
  keep Texas moving forward on its path to a bright future; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize February 22, 2011, as Commercial Real
  Estate Development Day at the State Capitol and extend to the Real
  Estate Councils of Texas sincere best wishes for continued success;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Real Estate Councils of Texas as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
