WHEREAS, Members of the Real Estate Councils of Texas are | ||
gathering in Austin on February 22, 2011, to celebrate Commercial | ||
Real Estate Development Day at the State Capitol; and | ||
WHEREAS, A statewide coalition of real estate professionals, | ||
RECsTX was founded in September 2008 to educate the public on issues | ||
affecting the real estate industry and to advocate on the | ||
industry's behalf; founding members include the Real Estate | ||
Councils of San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, Greater Fort Worth, and | ||
Houston, as well as Houstonians for Responsible Growth; and | ||
WHEREAS, The mission of RECsTX is to serve as the unified | ||
voice of the real estate development industry in Texas and to | ||
enhance the role of real estate within the state's economy; members | ||
of the organization also hope to raise public awareness about the | ||
significant economic impact of the real estate industry on Texas; | ||
in 2007, the industry provided approximately $3.8 billion in state | ||
tax revenue and generated more than $270 billion in total economic | ||
activity; furthermore, it contributed $76.8 billion in labor income | ||
and produced 1.75 million jobs; and | ||
WHEREAS, The well-being of Texas residents depends on | ||
economic prosperity throughout the state, and professional | ||
organizations like the Real Estate Councils of Texas are working to | ||
keep Texas moving forward on its path to a bright future; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby recognize February 22, 2011, as Commercial Real | ||
Estate Development Day at the State Capitol and extend to the Real | ||
Estate Councils of Texas sincere best wishes for continued success; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for the Real Estate Councils of Texas as an expression of | ||
high regard by the Texas House of Representatives. |
