WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Ramiro Robles of El Paso on December 9, 2018, at the age | ||
of 85; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Jose Robles and Dolores Gonzalez Robles, | ||
Ramiro Robles was born on January 7, 1933, and grew up with three | ||
brothers, Carlos, Jose, and Eduardo, and a sister, Bertha; he | ||
attended Bowie High School in El Paso and went on to join the U.S. | ||
Air Force, serving his country during the Korean War; after leaving | ||
the military, he embarked on a successful career as a civilian | ||
employee with the transportation department at Fort Bliss; and | ||
WHEREAS, Valuing family above all else, Mr. Robles shared 64 | ||
years of marriage with his wife, Belen Borrego Robles, and he took | ||
great pride in his children, Mary Helen, Carlos Francisco, and | ||
Ramiro; with the passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his | ||
family grow to include 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, This esteemed civic leader was a longtime member of | ||
the League of United Latin American Citizens, serving as national | ||
vice president for the Southwest for two terms and helping LULAC | ||
Councils No. 132 and No. 298 with educational and youth programs; a | ||
sports enthusiast, he loved following the New York Yankees and | ||
Dallas Cowboys, and he enjoyed traveling and playing golf; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although Ramiro Robles is greatly missed, he has | ||
left his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he | ||
will forever hold a special place in their hearts; now, therefore, | ||
be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ramiro Robles and | ||
extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Ramiro | ||
Robles. | ||
