| WHEREAS, The Tomball Memorial High School cheerleading team | ||
| proved itself one of the finest in Texas by winning the 6A Division | ||
| 1 title at the 2023 University Interscholastic League Spirit State | ||
| Championships; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Competing from January 12 through 14 at the Fort | ||
| Worth Convention Center, the Tomball Memorial cheerleaders opened | ||
| with an outstanding preliminary-round performance; entering the | ||
| finals in third place, the Wildcats demonstrated tremendous | ||
| resolve, posting scores of 45.53 and 41.93 in the Fight Song/Band | ||
| Chant and Crowd Leading events for an overall score of 87.47; | ||
| emerging triumphant in its first state meet at the 6A Division 1 | ||
| level, Tomball Memorial bested its closest foes by a margin of 2.1 | ||
| points to claim the school's inaugural state cheerleading crown; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Excelling with a true team effort, the Wildcats | ||
| received valuable contributions from each member of the roster as | ||
| they pursued their goal of becoming state champions; these talented | ||
| student-athletes were ably led by head coach Sarah Ellison, who has | ||
| directed the Wildcats to second-place, fourth-place, and | ||
| first-place state showings since taking the helm of the program, | ||
| and the team also benefited from the guidance of assistant coaches | ||
| Jennifer Koster and Rebecca Weverka; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the | ||
| culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering | ||
| commitment to excellence, and the members of the Tomball Memorial | ||
| cheerleading team will treasure the memory of this accomplishment | ||
| for the rest of their lives; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the Tomball Memorial High School | ||
| cheerleading team on winning the 6A Division 1 title at the 2023 UIL | ||
| Spirit State Championships and extend to all associated with the | ||
| team sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the Wildcats as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
