| WHEREAS, Dr. John E. Chapman III, superintendent of the Ennis | ||
| Independent School District, has been named the 2017 Superintendent | ||
| of the Year for Education Service Center Region 10; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Association of School Boards has sponsored | ||
| this annual award to recognize local school district | ||
| superintendents for their leadership since 1984; those receiving | ||
| the regional-level designation are honored at the Texas Association | ||
| of School Administrators/TASB annual convention and are eligible to | ||
| be considered for selection as state Superintendent of the Year; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Chapman began his career in Lubbock as a teacher | ||
| and coach; he went on to serve as a K-12 assistant principal, junior | ||
| high school principal, and high school principal before assuming | ||
| his first superintendent's post with Chillicothe ISD, which was | ||
| named one of the best districts in the nation by U.S. News and World | ||
| Report during his tenure; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 2007, this veteran educator became | ||
| superintendent for Comfort ISD, where he won the Gifted and | ||
| Talented Administrator of the Year Award; in 2013, he was named | ||
| Region 13 Superintendent of the Year and a state Superintendent of | ||
| the Year finalist; he has served as superintendent of Ennis ISD | ||
| since January 2014; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A graduate of McMurry University, Dr. Chapman holds | ||
| a master's degree from Wayland Baptist University and an Ed.D. in | ||
| educational leadership from Texas Tech University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive career, John Chapman has | ||
| worked tirelessly in behalf of students, teachers, and parents, and | ||
| he has contributed immeasurably to the advancement of public | ||
| education in the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. John E. | ||
| Chapman III on being named Region 10 Superintendent of the Year and | ||
| extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in his | ||
| important work; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Dr. Chapman as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
