	H.R. No. 366



	R E S O L U T I O N

	WHEREAS, Penelope Bankston has been named principal of
	Parkland High School in El Paso, and her appointment indeed merits
	special recognition; and
	WHEREAS, A highly regarded educator, Ms. Bankston brings a
	proven record of leadership and a wealth of knowledge to her new
	position; she began her career in 1994 as a bilingual elementary
	teacher in Alpine, and she has since served as a middle school
	reading teacher, high school dyslexia teacher, instructional
	specialist, and assistant principal; she has worked in Northeast El
	Paso for the past 18 years and most recently served as principal of
	Valley View Middle School; and
	WHEREAS, Ms. Bankston is a graduate of Sul Ross State
	University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in
	interdisciplinary studies and master's degrees in reading and
	educational administration; and
	WHEREAS, Penelope Bankston's dedication and expertise have
	greatly benefited her students over the years, and the experience
	she has acquired along the way will serve her in good stead as she
	takes on the challenges and opportunities of this new assignment;
	now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
	Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Penelope
	Bankston on being named principal of Parkland High School and
	extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
	further
	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
	prepared for Ms. Bankston as an expression of high regard by the
	Texas House of Representatives.
