R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Gloria Thomas retired from the Doris Miller
  Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Waco after four
  decades of exemplary service; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Ms. Thomas graduated with honors
  from Carver High School in 1969 and went on to earn a degree in
  nursing from Texas Woman's University; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her tenure with the medical center,
  Gloria Thomas provided her patients with the highest level of care,
  service, and compassion, and her consummate leadership earned her
  the deep respect and admiration of her peers; and
         WHEREAS, Gloria Thomas has greatly benefited generations of
  veterans across Central Texas through her dedication and
  professionalism, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a career
  well spent as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her life;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Gloria Thomas on her retirement
  from the Doris Miller Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Thomas as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
