H.R. No. 2744

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Bianca Quezada has been named a 2013 Dr. Hector P.
Garcia Scholar by the Dr. Hector P. Garcia Founding Chapter of the
American G.I. Forum of Texas; and
WHEREAS, The American G.I. Forum was established by this
esteemed civil rights pioneer and education advocate, whose motto
was "Education is our freedom, and freedom should be everybody's
business"; since 1948, the founding chapter has awarded more than
$250,000 to college-bound students in the Coastal Bend region;
scholarship applicants must have a grade point average of at least
2.5 and must submit an original essay on how the achievements of
Dr. Garcia have contributed to their lives; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Moses and Maria
Quezada, Bianca Quezada is a senior at Moody High School in Corpus
Christi and plans to attend Del Mar College after graduation; and
WHEREAS, This noteworthy young Texan has worked toward her
goals with great diligence and determination, and her
accomplishments are a source of tremendous pride to her family and
school; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Bianca Quezada on her selection as
a 2013 Dr. Hector P. Garcia Scholar and extend to her sincere best
wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Quezada as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
