R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed
  cause for celebration, and Kelly Gatlin of Richardson is
  commemorating that special milestone on July 27, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, Born in 1911 in Cooke County, Mrs. Gatlin has lived a
  rich and fulfilling life with years spent residing in both the city
  and the country; she worked as a clerk for the U.S. Army and later
  helped her husband, John Gatlin, with his barbershop in
  Richardson's Custer Square; and
         WHEREAS, After Mr. Gatlin's retirement in 1969, the couple
  moved to a lake house near Quitman, where they often entertained
  friends and family and where Mrs. Gatlin, following her husband's
  example, developed a love of fishing; and
         WHEREAS, A three-time cancer survivor, Mrs. Gatlin has not
  only survived but has chosen to live life to the fullest, and at the
  age of 97, she published a book, Shor Living, chronicling her
  journey as a daughter, wife, friend, and Texan; and
         WHEREAS, Kelly Gatlin is a source of inspiration and delight
  to all who are privileged to know her, and it is indeed a pleasure to
  honor her on a century of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Kelly Gatlin on her 100th birthday
  and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Gatlin as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
