WHEREAS, LGBTQIA+ communities across the state have greatly | ||
benefited from the dedicated efforts of Rebecca Marques, who | ||
currently serves as the Human Rights Campaign Texas State Director | ||
for Project One America; and | ||
WHEREAS, Ms. Marques joined HRC in 2018, and she has since | ||
worked tirelessly to advance the organization's mission of | ||
supporting equality and ending discrimination against LGBTQIA+ | ||
communities; her many contributions have included campaigning for | ||
political candidates and advocating in behalf of LGBTQIA+ Texans at | ||
the State Capitol; and | ||
WHEREAS, Prior to working with HRC, Ms. Marques served as a | ||
political strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union of | ||
Texas, where she led statewide efforts in support of LGBTQIA+ | ||
communities and reproductive rights; in addition, she served as the | ||
Florida campaign organizer for Oceana's Climate and Energy | ||
Campaign; she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from | ||
the University of Central Florida; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rebecca Marques has demonstrated a deep commitment | ||
to building a better future for LGBTQIA+ communities in Texas and | ||
beyond, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many noteworthy | ||
accomplishments; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Rebecca Marques for | ||
her service to LGBTQIA+ communities and extend to her sincere best | ||
wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Ms. Marques as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
