| WHEREAS, LGBTQIA+ communities across the state have greatly | ||
| benefited from the dedicated efforts of Rebecca Marques, who | ||
| currently serves as the Human Rights Campaign Texas State Director | ||
| for Project One America; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Marques joined HRC in 2018, and she has since | ||
| worked tirelessly to advance the organization's mission of | ||
| supporting equality and ending discrimination against LGBTQIA+ | ||
| communities; her many contributions have included campaigning for | ||
| political candidates and advocating in behalf of LGBTQIA+ Texans at | ||
| the State Capitol; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Prior to working with HRC, Ms. Marques served as a | ||
| political strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union of | ||
| Texas, where she led statewide efforts in support of LGBTQIA+ | ||
| communities and reproductive rights; in addition, she served as the | ||
| Florida campaign organizer for Oceana's Climate and Energy | ||
| Campaign; she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from | ||
| the University of Central Florida; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Rebecca Marques has demonstrated a deep commitment | ||
| to building a better future for LGBTQIA+ communities in Texas and | ||
| beyond, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many noteworthy | ||
| accomplishments; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas | ||
| Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Rebecca Marques for | ||
| her service to LGBTQIA+ communities and extend to her sincere best | ||
| wishes for continued success in her important work; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Marques as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
