WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of Clifford Anne Bigby Cozart of Fort Worth on December 2, | ||
2022, at the age of 90; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth, Anne Cozart was born on | ||
November 28, 1932, to Annie Farmer Bigby and Walter Clifford Bigby, | ||
and she grew up with the companionship of two sisters, Mary Lynne | ||
and Priscilla; after her graduation from North Side High School, | ||
she attended North Texas State University and received a degree in | ||
education; she would later earn a master's degree from Texas | ||
Christian University; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cozart began her teaching career at Denver | ||
Avenue Elementary School, where she served for more than four | ||
decades; throughout her tenure, she taught every elementary grade | ||
level, as well as pre-K English as a Second Language classes; she | ||
became the first female Castleberry ISD School Board member, a | ||
position she held for 21 years, and she also served on the Texas | ||
Association of School Boards; and | ||
WHEREAS, After retiring from education, Mrs. Cozart | ||
continued to serve the community as the district director for State | ||
Representative Charlie Geren; additionally, she was a member of the | ||
Northwest Tarrant, Saginaw Area, and Texas Tri-County Chambers of | ||
Commerce; moreover, she worked to ensure the placement of smoke | ||
alarms in area homes, earning her recognition as the Civilian Fire | ||
Fighter of the Year; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mrs. Cozart enjoyed many hobbies in her leisure | ||
time, including gardening and flying airplanes; she was a proud | ||
member of the Ninety-Nines, and she served on the Fort Worth | ||
Aviation Advisory Board; a woman of faith, she was a devoted | ||
congregant of River Oaks Baptist Church; in all her endeavors, she | ||
enjoyed the love and support of her husband, Gene, with whom she | ||
shared 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2019; she took | ||
great pride in her three daughters, Genie, Deanna, and Angie, and | ||
over the years, she had the pleasure of seeing her family grow to | ||
include five grandchildren, Heath, Mitzi, Chris, Brandon, and | ||
Brade; and | ||
WHEREAS, Although she will be deeply missed, the passage of | ||
time will never diminish the joy and love that Anne Cozart brought | ||
into the lives of all who knew her; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Clifford Anne Bigby | ||
Cozart and extend deepest condolences to her loved ones; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Anne | ||
Cozart. | ||
