| WHEREAS, Sally Jaime has been named the 2011 Firefighter of | ||
| the Year by the Edinburg Volunteer Fire Department, and her | ||
| selection for this honor qualifies her as a nominee for the Rio | ||
| Grande Valley Firefighter of the Year award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A native of Edinburg, Ms. Jaime received her | ||
| firefighter training at Texas State Technical College in Harlingen, | ||
| and she joined the Edinburg VFD nine years ago as a volunteer; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Jaime is now one of the department's six | ||
| professional firefighters, helping to respond to more than 2,000 | ||
| incidents a year; in addition, she has generously contributed her | ||
| time to the Edinburg VFD's Explorer Post No. 2002, which serves to | ||
| introduce young people to careers in fire and emergency services; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Jaime enjoys the love | ||
| and support of her husband and six-year-old daughter; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sally Jaime has earned the respect and admiration of | ||
| her peers for her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to | ||
| public service, and she may indeed take pride in the important part | ||
| she plays in ensuring the safety and welfare of her fellow citizens; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 82nd Texas | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Sally Jaime on | ||
| being named the 2011 Firefighter of the Year by the Edinburg | ||
| Volunteer Fire Department and extend to her sincere best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Jaime as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
