WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the | ||
passing of E. Wayne Hall of Austin on August 13, 2012, at the age of | ||
88; and | ||
WHEREAS, The son of Seidel and Mary Adele Hall, E. Wayne Hall | ||
was born in San Antonio on August 9, 1924; he briefly attended The | ||
University of Texas at Austin before suspending his studies to | ||
serve his country in the U.S. Army Air Forces from 1942 to 1945; he | ||
graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration from | ||
UT in 1948 and continued his education with graduate work at Boston | ||
University; and | ||
WHEREAS, He worked at Texaco in Corpus Christi for eight | ||
years before beginning his distinguished 30-year career with | ||
Associated General Contractors; he started out as a field | ||
representative and safety director for the organization's highway | ||
division and advanced to become assistant secretary; in 1966, he | ||
became the legislative director of the Houston Chapter of the AGC, | ||
and when the group's Texas Building Branch opened in 1974, he became | ||
its executive director, a position he held until his retirement in | ||
1988; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Hall's leadership helped set a new standard in | ||
the association's efforts to provide information and guidance on | ||
issues affecting the commercial construction industry in Texas; in | ||
addition, Mr. Hall was active at the national level with AGC of | ||
America, and he was a member of the executive committee of the AGC | ||
Executive Leadership Council; and | ||
WHEREAS, A longtime member of Tarrytown United Methodist | ||
Church, he had served as chair of the administrative board; in his | ||
leisure time, he pursued his passion for golf with friends at Austin | ||
Country Club and expressed his artistic side through watercolor | ||
painting and woodworking; and | ||
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Hall enjoyed the | ||
encouragement and companionship of the love of his life, the former | ||
Mary Root, and the couple enjoyed 53 rewarding years of marriage | ||
until she passed away in 2003; they were the proud parents of four | ||
children, and their family grew to include eight grandchildren and | ||
two great-grandchildren; and | ||
WHEREAS, A talented gentleman of great character and | ||
integrity, E. Wayne Hall had a positive influence on the lives of | ||
all those who had the good fortune to know him, and he is fondly | ||
remembered and deeply missed; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of E. Wayne Hall and | ||
extend sincere condolences to the members of his family; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of | ||
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of E. Wayne | ||
Hall. |
