| WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that calls for character, | ||
| passion, and commitment, and Shonte' Leonard has demonstrated these | ||
| qualities in abundance throughout her career with the Beaumont | ||
| Independent School District; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 2008, Ms. Leonard joined the staff of Clifton J. | ||
| Ozen Magnet High School, which is now Beaumont United High School; | ||
| over the past 15 years, she has served as a speech communications | ||
| and journalism instructor, senior class sponsor, and University | ||
| Interscholastic League coordinator; she has further benefited the | ||
| district as a member of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support | ||
| System committee; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Ms. Leonard has received a number of accolades in | ||
| recognition of her work as an educator, including a Campus Teacher | ||
| of the Year award and an Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award from | ||
| the Beaumont A&M Club, and she was named a Southeast Texas Young | ||
| Professionals Organization 40 Under 40 honoree; she is a graduate | ||
| of Lamar University, where she earned bachelor's degrees in | ||
| corporate communication and family and consumer science as well as | ||
| a master's degree in educational leadership; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Shonte' Leonard has made a lasting and positive | ||
| difference in the lives of countless students in Beaumont ISD, and | ||
| she is indeed deserving of special recognition for her outstanding | ||
| contributions to Southeast Texas; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby commend Shonte' Leonard for her exemplary | ||
| service to the Beaumont Independent School District and extend to | ||
| her sincere best wishes for continued success with her important | ||
| work; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for Ms. Leonard as an expression of high regard by the | ||
| Texas House of Representatives. | ||
