WHEREAS, Stephen A. Kolodny, a veteran trial attorney and | ||
program chair of the Houston Family Law Trial Institute, has | ||
compiled a notable record of success in his 25 years as an educator; | ||
and | ||
WHEREAS, The Houston Family Law Trial Institute is a | ||
specialized continuing education program at South Texas College of | ||
Law that offers attorneys specializing in family law the | ||
opportunity to hone their techniques in the courtroom; the | ||
curriculum is composed of personalized workshops led by practiced | ||
litigators and judges, who bring a wealth of experience in all | ||
aspects of case preparation and presentation, such as developing | ||
opening and closing arguments, examining witnesses, and raising | ||
evidentiary objections; and | ||
WHEREAS, Since 1995, Mr. Kolodny has served as a principal | ||
partner in the Beverly Hills-based firm of Kolodny & Anteau; before | ||
becoming chair of the Houston Family Law Trial Institute in 2008, he | ||
was a faculty member of the American Bar Association Family Law | ||
Trial Advocacy Institute at the University of Houston for nearly 20 | ||
years, and he has been a frequent lecturer for the American Academy | ||
of Matrimonial Lawyers, the International Academy of Matrimonial | ||
Lawyers, and other state family law conferences; his achievements | ||
further include authorship of a number of legal articles and | ||
manuals; and | ||
WHEREAS, A leader in his field, Mr. Kolodny has served as | ||
president of the American Chapter of the International Academy of | ||
Matrimonial Lawyers and is a past president, counsel, and | ||
prosecutor for the organization's Southern California Chapter; in | ||
addition, he is the former parliamentarian for the family law | ||
section of the ABA and has held memberships and positions of | ||
responsibility in numerous other professional organizations; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Kolodny earned his juris doctorate at Boston | ||
University in 1965; in recent years, he has been recognized with the | ||
Spencer Brandeis Award from the Los Angeles County Bar Association | ||
Family Law Section and the prestigious Silver Shingle Award from | ||
his alma mater; moreover, he has been consistently ranked as one of | ||
the top divorce lawyers in the nation; and | ||
WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Stephen Kolodny has | ||
distinguished himself with his keen legal mind and remarkable skill | ||
in the practice of law, and his colleagues and students at the | ||
Houston Family Law Trial Institute are fortunate to benefit from | ||
his leadership and wide-ranging expertise; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas | ||
Legislature hereby honor Stephen A. Kolodny for his service to the | ||
Houston Family Law Trial Institute and the legal profession at | ||
large and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be | ||
it further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
prepared for Mr. Kolodny as an expression of high regard by the | ||
Texas House of Representatives. | ||
