R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, May 23, 2013, marked the 60th wedding anniversary of
  Dan and Carolyn Metcalf of Mineola, and their memorable journey
  together as husband and wife is indeed deserving of special
  recognition; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf were joined in matrimony in
  1953 at a ceremony held at First Baptist Church in Garland; over the
  years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes
  two children, Katherine and Kyle Metcalf, and a granddaughter,
  Kyndal Metcalf; and
         WHEREAS, A founding member and former president of the Yantis
  Lions Club, Mr. Metcalf served two terms on the Yantis Independent
  School District board and is retired following a 30-year career
  with Texas Instruments; in his leisure time, he enjoys working with
  computers; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Metcalf retired from the Richardson
  Independent School District after three decades as an educator,
  once winning the Teacher of the Year Award; an active congregant of
  the First Baptist Church, she belongs to the Retired Teachers
  Association of Wood County, volunteers with Caring and Sharing, and
  is an avid reader; and
         WHEREAS, The 60 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf
  have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and
  commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who
  know them; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dan and
  Carolyn Metcalf on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to
  them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
