R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Blum High School volleyball team reached the
  pinnacle of success by winning the 1A championship at the 2022
  University Interscholastic League Volleyball State Tournament; and
         WHEREAS, Following an impressive performance during the
  regular season, the Lady Cats continued to excel in the playoffs,
  racking up straight-set victories over Gilmer Union Hill, Avery,
  and Abbott High Schools to reach the regional final; there, the Blum
  players swept Saint Jo High School to earn the school's fifth state
  tournament berth since 2017; in the semifinals, the Lady Cats
  notched their fifth consecutive sweep by besting Lamesa Klondike
  High School 25-19, 25-10, 25-13; and
         WHEREAS, Taking the court on November 17 for its third
  consecutive finals appearance, Blum battled for the state crown
  against D'Hanis High School; the Lady Cats took charge from the
  outset, dominating the opening set by the score of 25-10; the team
  maintained its focus and composure down the stretch, claiming the
  final two sets by the margins of 25-17 and 25-16 to win the school's
  first state volleyball title; and
         WHEREAS, Blum was led by Kinsley McPherson, who was named the
  Most Valuable Player of the 1A championship match; she was joined on
  the All-Tournament Team by Emma Scott, Ruby Rumohr, and Kayden
  Arrington; the Lady Cats also received valuable contributions
  throughout the season from the other members of the roster: Skylar
  Allen, Jayden Galbraith, McKayla Whatley, Katy Pinyan, Kaydee
  Roland, Payden Sanders, and Addison Willingham; these talented
  student-athletes were ably guided by head coach Lauren McPherson
  and assistant coaches Kasi Miller, Jeff Sanders, and Kourtney
  Welle; and
         WHEREAS, Winning a state championship represents the
  culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
  commitment to excellence, and the Blum Lady Cats will treasure the
  memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their lives; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Blum High School volleyball
  team on winning the 1A championship at the 2022 UIL Volleyball State
  Tournament and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
